Missions

The Kingdom of God - to which we as a congregation are called to be a sign - is a realm that is free of the suffering caused by injustice, poverty, disease, ignorance, and loneliness. Our missions seek to address, in the name of Jesus, the many forms of suffering that afflict our nation and world:

John Wesley School:
Our primary school of 400 learners seeks to provide quality education in a Christian environment. The school is helping to mould a future generation of leaders and citizens for our young democracy. The bursary fund assists children from impoverished communities. Click here to visit the John Wesley School website.
Sizanani
(isiZulu for ‘Help one another’)
is a sewing training centre that empowers unemployed women with sewing skills to enable them to provide for themselves and their families. Click here to find out more about Sizanani (will open a .pdf file)

Phakamisa
(isiZulu for ‘Lift Up’)
uplifts impoverished communities through the provision of education, training, resourcing and support. It impacts over 10 000 children through approximately 300 educare centres, and about 5 000 orphaned or abandoned children through 1500 caregivers organised into caregiver support groups. Click here to visit the Phakamisa website.

Greenfields Retirement Centre
provides affordable accommodation for fit elderly people, based on the ‘Abbeyfield’ concept. (Click here for more details on Greenfields)
Steve’s Kitchen
is an interdenominational Soup Kitchen operating off our premises. It offers sustenance to some 150 unemployed job-seekers daily.

“Wesleyan Christians take an intentional option to stand with the poor and marginalized of society, against the principalities and powers that hold all such in bondage, declaring the Good News of Jesus by word and deed”

~ Peter Storey ~
